Beyond Zanzibar City, the island of Zanzibar is dotted with spice plantations and
historic sites. We went on a "spice tour" to see.
Here we are scrambling amongst the ruins
of the Maruhubi Palace. The palace was built in 1882 by
Sultan Barghashi for his hundred woman harem. According to legend,
his wife was a pioneering feminist who conspired to free many from the harem.
The palace was "accidentally" burned down in 1899.

After driving, ballooning, walking and climbing, boating was our next and last
safari mode. We waded through the warm ocean to a motorized dhow called
Zanzibar 2001 (formerly Zanzibar 2000) for snorkeling and dolphin spotting.

Turns out dolphins are harder to get close to than ruins.
Enjoying a post voyage meal in the presence of Bob and bergrossebeests.
We liked this photo so much, we used it as the cover for our first reggae CD.
But wait, there's more...
